Sony BMG Follows Warner and Universal Back to the Artists.

I wrote about Warner here and Universal here already, now Sony BMG does it too.
The majors position for a broader “360 degree” artist deal approach.
Losing more and more of their music distribution oligopoly, the labels are focussing on the artists and their devolopement again, and don’t just focus on selling, distributing cds and publishing.
Sony BMG Germany acquired now MTS, a management firm and Bucardo, a booking agency. EMI tries to participate through revenue sharing deals with the artist (eg. Korn and Robbie Williams). Universal acquired lately the Sanctuary Group, which imply some management, merchandising, recording and publishing firms.
I’m sure that’s the right way. Starting again to be a “full service company” for artists. Going back on the value chain of music.
Still I’m wondering, why not earlier?
